      Likes Lead to Literacy

Grace Place and Collier County Have Teamed Up to Help Naples Youth

Naples, FL (May 21, 2013) – Grace Place and Collier County have just announced plans to implement their new “Likes for Literacy” program in  Naples, Florida. The program will utilize Facebook to further their educational mission to youths in the area.

Collier County has agreed to volunteer 15 minutes of staff time for every “like” Grace Place receives on Facebook during the month of June.  “It’s incredible,” says Barbara Evans, Grace Place’s Director of Development, “I cannot express how grateful I am to Collier County and those who are helping us. We have taught life skills to over 800 children and their families and now, with Collier County on board, we believe that number will only continue to grow.” Collier County has agreed to give staff one week of paid leave from June 2013-June 2014 to fulfill their agreement with Grace Place.

Both Grace Place and Collier County encourage the community to get involved. Mayor John Sorey has set the precedent by promising to be the first like during the month of June. “Children are leaders of the future, but they need the proper tools in order to be successful. Grace Place has proven that they are successful in this endeavor, and I encourage Naples Residents to show their support by liking them on Facebook.

Grace Place is a faith-based, nonprofit neighborhood educational center teaching literacy, language and life skills to at-risk children and impoverished families in Golden Gate city. For more information, please contact the Director of Development, Barbara Evans, at 239-455-2707. Please visit and like the Grace Place Facebook at www.facebook.com/GracePlaceNaples.
